What did you notice about this election that could explain this turnout?

Elections Yukon will be investigating the turnout using a framework of:

Number of registered electors

  • Elections Yukon will assess the list of electors for potential overcounts of electors who are no longer eligible to vote or living in the Yukon.

Number of voters - turnout factors

Notwithstanding the subsequent population growth and increased number of electors, the number of voters is relatively unchanged over the past 3 elections. What turnout factors would explain this?

  • Motivation: How an elector's personal tendency to vote affected their decision to vote or not vote in this election

  • Means: How voting options, places, and times available to an elector affected their decision to vote or not vote in this election.

  • Context: How an elector's view of the electoral or political landscape affected their decision to vote or not vote in this election.

The 2025 territorial general election was historic with the first plebiscite vote in over 100 years. It was also a busy one with two new electoral districts.
