Elections Yukon is in charge of:
- territorial general,
- school council,
- school board elections and
- plebiscite 2025
Elections Yukon is a non-partisan independent office. It is one of several offices under the Legislative Assembly.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) manages electoral events' planning, organization, preparation, and impartial conduct.
Our office is on the second floor of 402 Hanson Street, above the Family Practice Unit in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Mandate
Elections Yukon is known as an election management body (EMB). We oversee the planning, organizing, and implementing of Elections for the territory.
EMBs are an independent, nonpartisan institution for neutral election administration.
Canada has an EMB for each province, territory, and national jurisdiction. Elections Yukon serves as an administrative office to the Chief Electoral Officer.
We have a leadership team based in Whitehorse. The field leadership team in the 19 electoral districts each elects a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
Our primary responsibilities are to:
- maintain a state of territorial election readiness;
- conduct territory-wide school board elections;
- conduct local school council elections; and
- be a member of the Electoral District Boundaries Commission.
Organizational structure
The CEO has a core team in Whitehorse and in the 19 electoral districts across the territory.
In the weeks leading up to a general election, the team grows to include more than 600 workers on election day.
Voters from diverse backgrounds serve Yukon's democratic traditions. They uphold all citizens' constitutional rights to choose their government.

Territorial returning officers
Headquarters manages central administration, while Field leadership handles local election conduct.
Returning Officers are appointed through merit-based competition and are responsible for preparing, administering, conducting, and reporting on electoral events.
