Employment

Elections Yukon offers a variety of unique opportunities to participate in the elections process in all Yukon communities.
Are you interested in flexible, part-time working arrangements, working with a passionate team, and being part of the democratic process? We'd like to hear from you.
In addition to hiring for our core team and election events, we accept applications on an ongoing basis for election staff to ensure our team is ready for the next general election.
Elections Yukon has a central role in upholding the legitimacy of democratic processes in the Yukon. Individuals working with Elections Yukon must be, and must be seen to be, impartial and non-partisan in conducting their duties. Public trust and confidence in the integrity, objectivity, and impartiality of the electoral process must be preserved and enhanced. Impartiality is one of Elections Yukon's core values.
Non-Partisanship
As an election official, individuals must agree not to engage in partisan political activity for the length of their employment with Elections Yukon.
Examples of partisan behavior include
- Engaging with a territorial political party
- Working/campaigning for a territorial party
- Publicly voicing or expressing support for a candidate or political party (posting a lawn sign at your residence, amplifying or liking social media posts, speaking at public forums, etc.)
- Wearing partisan colours or swag in a polling location or returning office
- Any other political or public activity that compromises, or might be seen to compromise, the non-partisan and impartial service provided by Elections Yukon
Current Job Opportunities
Returning Officers
We are recruiting returning officers for the following electoral districts:
| ED 6: Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn | |
| ED 7: Mayo-Tatchun | |
| ED 16: Vuntut Gwitchin |
Returning officers are our senior field leaders, reporting to the Chief Electoral Officer and responsible for managing the election process in their electoral district. This includes hiring and leading the district team, managing the office and polling stations, liaising with the head office, communicating with the public and stakeholders, and overseeing the counting and reporting of the vote.
These are long-term appointments with minimal time commitments between elections for training and preparation work. More activities ramp up when a general election is called to prepare, and on-site, daily availability is required during an election period.
We are looking for people who are non-partisan with strong leadership and communication skills, an ability to manage a team and processes, comfort with technology, and an ability to work in a busy, high-volume, public environment. Election experience is an asset but not required—we provide full, paid training on election processes.
