You will need to register for the first time if you haven't voted in a Yukon election before. New Canadians, youth, and new Yukoners will all need to register.
If you've voted in a Yukon election before, you can confirm or update your registration.
1. Confirm you're Eligible
To be register, you must be:
- a Canadian citizen, and
- a resident of the Yukon for at least 12 months
- at least 16 years of age*
*Note: although 16 and 17-year-olds can register, they will not be able to vote until they turn 18.
2. Have your Identification Ready
If registering for the first time:
you will need to upload a copy of your identification with your application.
Most electors upload a photo of their Yukon driver's license of General Identification Card. Other options are available.
Make sure that the address on your ID matches your address of residence.
3. Complete the Online Registration Application
The online registration application will ask for your:
- legal name,
- address of residence, and
- date of birth.
You must use your legal name that matches your ID even if you use a name other than your legal name.

If you have recently moved or changed your name, you can update your registration.
More information is available for electors who have recently:
- changed their name, or
- use a preferred name that is different from their legal name.
4. Your Registration is Reviewed
Elections Yukon will review your application. Application reviews occur during normal business hours. After verifying the information, we will send you an email.
