School Councils

School Councils provide a way for Yukoners to get involved in the education of children.

They provide advice to the Minister of Education on:

  • resource allocation,
  • school programs, and
  • attendance policies

Attendance Areas

There are 17 school councils in Yukon. The number of elected positions on each council is set by regulation. This number varies by attendance area.

Attendance area maps are available for each school:

School Council Elections

A general election is held every two years to elect members to school councils.

In October 2022, a by-election for Whistle Bend Elementary School Council took place. In May 2022, a general election took place.  The official results provide a list of elected members and the number of vacancies.
