Elections Yukon administers school board and council elections. The rules guiding school elections are in the Education Act and its regulations.
School council elections
There are seventeen (17) Yukon Education schools in the Yukon. All Yukon Education schools have a council. Each school council has beteween three and seven elected members.
School council elections are held in the spring of even-numbered years. The next school council election will be in May 2024, with nominations opening April 15, 2024.

School board elections
There are two school boards in the Yukon. Combined, they operated 13 Yukon schools. Each school board has five elected trustees.
School board elections are held every three years. The next school board general election will be in fall 2025.

School referendum votes
School referendums ask the community if a school should be operated by, or become a school board. A referendum vote can happen if the Minister of Education accepts a:
- resolution from a school council, or
- petition from the school community
There is no set schedule for school referendum votes.
